Saddle up for a peaceful horseback ride through one of Hawaiʻi Island’s most breathtaking landscapes. Travel along scenic ranch trails overlooking the lush cliffs and dramatic coastline near Waipiʻo Valley. With experienced guides leading the way, you’ll hear stories of the island’s paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) traditions while enjoying unforgettable ocean and valley views. Choose a refreshing morning ride or a relaxed afternoon adventure—both offering a truly authentic Big Island experience.
Waipi’o valley is temporarily closed to visitors at this time due to road construction. We’ve ridden our horses out of Waipi’o Valley to WOH Ranch, a 500 acre ahupua’a two and a half miles from Waipi’o Valley lookout.
This ride is beautiful! A private 500 acre mountain to ocean working cattle ranch with breathtaking ocean views. You will ride through the largest Dwarf Malaysian coconut orchard on the island, apple banana groves, exotic fruit trees, and tilapia fishponds. We travel alongside the historic Hamakua Ditch, it’s over a century old and now a protected historic landmark on the property that irrigated the sugarcane fields during the plantation era. The pastures are blooming with purple flowers, guava and ironwoods. During the spring there are baby sheep, horses and calves.
